Our Method
There is no doubt that the Pilates movement has taken hold, and as Pilates continues to grow and new schools join the fold, each attempts to add its own stylistic elements to the original Pilates Method.
While adaptation to contemporary forms has its place, at Principled Pilates we favor the more classic form, based on the six principles derived from Joseph Pilates, the founder of the Pilates Method of Contrology - concentration, centering, control, breathing, precision, and flowing movement. These six principles form the underpinnings of our classical Pilates teaching style to bring the student a true-to-form experience of the classical methodology of Pilates.

About Pilates
Pilates is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen and tone your body. The practice of Pilates yields numerous benefits, including core strength, improved posture, and flexibility. If it is your desire to balance your body, reduce stress, improve endurance and most of all, look better and feel great, why not utilize the one method that for almost a 100 years has proven its ability to achieve all these things!
About Suspension Training®
Suspension Training, created by ex-Navy SEAL Randy Hetrick, is a training methodology in which the user's hands or feet are supported by a single anchor point (suspended) while the opposite end of the body is in contact with the ground. Using the TRX® Suspension Trainer, the desired percentage of body weight is loaded onto the targeted body zone (e.g. shoulders, legs, core) and exercises are performed to strengthen, tone and balance the body while enhancing flexibility, improving coordination and building endurance, power and core stability.
About Our Yoga
Our yoga classes implement a "strength and stretch" Vinyasa format. Heat in the body is generated by flowing movement and strength asanas (poses) which then enable the body to stretch deeply and then relax fully at the end of class.
For students wishing to cross train, a method that increases flexibility and circulation while building strength and toning the body, yoga classes can be combined with mat Pilates to create a fun, fusion experience. The makeup of the routines can be adapted to suit each group of students' goals.
